Engineer Basir Marohom Ibrahim’s more than three decades of government service started from his humble beginning as a Civil Engineering Aide at the then Ministry of Public Works and Highways – Lanao del Sur in 1986.
Prior to his designation as the Regional Director of DPWH Region XII, he was a project engineer in the Lanao del Sur District Engineering Office and was exceptionally credited for accomplishing numerous critical projects in hazardous areas.
He was once an Assistant Chief of the Maintenance Division in the DPWH Regional Office XII and an OIC-District Engineer in the Cotabato City District Engineering Office.
Engineer Ibrahim also served as Chief of the Maintenance Division and concurrent Chief-of-Staff of the Director for Region XII, which ranked 4th in the DPWH Nationwide Maintenance Assessments in 2014, and 7th in 2015. It was the same year that Cotabato II DEO in Midsayap, North Cotabato bagged 1st place in the nationwide ranking among 182 district engineering offices.
Throughout his engineering career, RD Ibrahim was often tasked to complete abandoned projects especially in Mindanao earning him the moniker as the region’s “troubleshooter”.
He is a lifetime member of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc. (PICE), Regional Emergency Assistance Communication Team, Inc. (REACT) and the Road Engineering Association of the Philippines (REAP).
RD Ibrahim completed his degree in Civil Engineering at the Technological Institute of the Philippines in 1985 and passed the Licensure Examination for Civil Engineers the following year. He earned his Masters in Public Administration Degree at St. Benedict College in Cotabato City.
