His long years of experience as a state engineer is a big advantage to Engr. Edgar B. Tabacon in handling his role as Regional Director.
Prior to his designation as the head honcho of DPWH Region VII, Central Visayas, Director Tabacon first assumed the top post in Region VIII, DPWH Eastern Visayas, after serving the Samar 2nd District Engineering Office as District Engineer for five years. In 2010 alone, he was given various assignments as OIC-Assistant Director of DPWH Region VIII, District Engineer of Iloilo 1st District Engineering Office, and as OIC-Assistant Director of DPWH Region VII.
He was awarded as Most Outstanding Public Servant by the Manila Newswatch in CY 2007 & 2008, Most Outstanding Civil Engineer for Class 1985 by the University of San Jose Recoletos, and Most Outstanding Alumnos by the Abellana National School Alumni Federation. As an active member of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, he has received Presidential Award from the PICE National Board in CY 2011.
Engr. Tabacon has attended numerous trainings/conferences/workshops conducted by various institutions such as the Conference of Career Executive Service conducted by the National Union of Career Executive Service Officers in November 2009; 8th Heads of Road Authorities Meeting & 13th Road Engineering Association of Asia & Australasia conducted in Korea by the Road Association of Asia and Australasia in September 2009; Advance Geotechnical Engineering Training Course by the National Swedish Road Administration; Comprehensive Training for Field Engineers; and Management Courses for Supervisors.
He has also attended the Integrated GABAY ng Paglilingkod Executive Leadership Program, Integrated SALAMIN-DIWA ng Paglilingkod Executive Leadership Program, Talent Management for Competitiveness; CES Executive Leadership and Wellness Camp; Creative Innovations and Reforms for Committed Leadership and Effectiveness (C.I.R.C.L.E.) Forum; among others.
Director Tabacon obtained his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree at the University of San Jose Recoletos in 1985 and then completed his Master in Public Administration degree from the University of San Agustin in 1995.
