River Wall Structure Enhances Resilience of Flood-prone Barangay in Isabela

A flood-prone barangay in Tumauini, Isabela is now safeguarded against the perennial threat of flooding with the completion of a river wall structure by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Isabela 1st District Engineering Office said that completed is a 1.22-kilometer rive rwall made of gabion structure in Barangay Antagan II, Tumauini.

The completion of Antagan II Flood Control Project underscores the government’s effort towards enhancing the resilience of vulnerable communities against natural disasters.

According to DPWH Isabela 1st District Engineer Deoferio P. Vehemente Jr., the flood-control project along Tumauini River can now alleviate fears about agricultural loss during the rainy season.

The river wall structure is a robust defense against erosion to safeguards fertile farmlands in the area, District Engineer Vehemente added.

The project was completed in the amount of P49 million funded under 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
