In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Region IV-B Director Gerald Pacanan said that the project involves the replacement of the damaged paved roads stretching 1.4 kilometers, construction of road shoulders on both sides, and the application of reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings for enhanced safety.
Serving as an effective alternative route, the completed widening and rehabilitation of the damaged road segments in Barangay Alcate has reduced by half the travel time from 20 to 10 minutes.
“We cannot emphasize enough the importance of regular road maintenance, especially along national highways that serve thousands of commuters daily, these projects ensure the safety and convenience of all road users,” said Director Pacanan.
Funded in the amount of P34 million under the 2023 General Appropriations Act, the project was implemented by the Mindoro Oriental District Engineering Office.
