The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has recently completed a segment of an access road in Naga City that will soon form part of a planned promenade similar to the famous Iloilo River Esplanade.

In a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office 5 Director Virgilio C. Eduarte said that the DPWH Camarines Sur 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO) accomplished in March 2024 a portion of the project in Naga City.

The project covers the construction of 2-lane concrete road parallel to Bicol River, complete with bike lane, walkway, green area, drainage, and Solar LED streetlights.

“This completed road will be part of our bigger project dubbed Bicol River Esplanade which is envisioned to serve as a new tourist attraction and will generate revenue for the city, through employment and business opportunities,” said Director Eduarte.

According to Director Eduarte, this year, the DPWH Camarines Sur 3rd DEO is working on another segment of the project which is expected to be completed before the end of the year.

The ongoing section has received an allocation of P19.39 million and is currently 64 percent completed.
