Contractors, consultants and suppliers of the Department of Public Works and Highways are being warned anew against modus operandi by unscrupulous individuals dropping the name of top Department officials soliciting financial assistance purportedly for Medical Mission and other charitable activities.
The DPWH has received several reports from DPWH field units victimized by solicitors claiming connection and even impersonating the voices of Undersecretaries Raul C. Asis and Ardeliza R. Medenilla including other key officials exhorting money as financial assistance for a medical mission.
In an instance, the perpetrators called up some contractors and District Engineers asking for donation thru bank deposit under the names Antonio Cerbito and Rogem Montesa.
Asis decried this deceitful act as he is not in any way - whether on official or personal capacity –involved in any fund raising activity, and neither endorsing any individual, entity or group to solicit on his behalf.
In the past, DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson including some Undersecretaries have issued several warnings and have alerted all Regional and Project Directors and District Engineers about modus operandi of unauthorized solicitation using the officials’ name and position to solicit funds, by way of financial assistance, sponsorship or selling raffle tickets from contractors, consultants, suppliers and even colleagues at DPWH.
