One of the most critical bridges for the development of Agusan del Sur has been improved and widened by the Department of Public Works and Highways.
A total of P219.8 million was allocated by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the additional two (2) lanes of Wawa Bridge, located along Daang Maharlika in Bayugan City.
According to DPWH Region 13 Director Danilo E. Versola, the 240 lineal meter Wawa Bridge is the longest steel bridge in the province that serves as road boundary and connection of Bayugan City and Sibagat town which makes the delivery of basic services to people in the area efficient.
The bridge widening project was meant to accelerate the mobility and economic activity, and provide more sustainable growth for agriculture and commerce development of the province known as the “Land of Golden Opportunities”.
It is likewise expected to facilitate tourism growth of Agusan del Sur, which aside from being previously known to be home of the largest crocodile in the world -”Lolong”, also showcases colourful cultural festivities, cold and hot springs, eco-park and perfect mountainous sceneries.
