Twelve (12) new equipment to be used for disaster response activities in Western Visayas were recently turned over to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office 6 by DPWH Bureau of Equipment.
The new equipment transferred to the custody of the DPWH Region 6 Equipment Management Division headed by its chief, Engr. Ronnie C. Catuiran, are the following: one (1) unit of road milling machine with accessories; five (5) units of dump truck; four (4) units chain saw; one (1) unit power light tower with generator; and one (1) unit amphibious.
The additional equipment will be deployed in District Engineering Offices (DEOs) in the region to be utilized in various disaster response operations, relief and rescue operations as well as in maintenance activities.
“The acquisition of new equipment is very timely for emergency disaster response operations considering that Western Visayas had experienced series of natural phenomena such as typhoon and earthquakes,” Catuiran said.
To date, DPWH Region 6 has a total of 20 units of different types of disaster-response equipment, stationed in the Regional Office and various District Engineering Offices, ready for deployment when need arises.
