The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) shares the spirit of 2014 Christmas Season with a “Pamaskong Handog” gift-giving activity nationwide.

DPWH Undersecretary Jaime A. Pacanan together with Assistant Secretary Ardeliza R. Medenilla and the Directors and employees under the Support Services Group heeded the call of Secretary Rogelio L. Singson to conduct Community Extension Program for more meaningful Christmas celebration which started with the distribution of packed goods among 100 chosen families living in Barangay 651 Zone 68 Port Area, Manila.

Singson reminded employees that Christmas is about reaching out to the poor and needy heeding the call of Pope Francis to show God’s “mercy and compassion”.

Human Resource and Administrative Service, Financial Management Service, Legal Service, Information Management Service, Stakeholders Relations Service, and Procurement Service comprise the DPWH Support Services Group.

Pacanan said that instead of looking that far, the Support Services group opted to share blessings with the DPWH Central Office immediate neighbors in Barangay 651 where vast numbers of living families are poor.

The goodwill effort of providing foodstuffs and small cash amount bring not only joy to several families but also demonstrates DPWH compassion with those who are less fortunate, added Pacanan.

Chairwoman Aida O. Lavapie of Barangay 651 extends the recipients’ appreciation to the DPWH leadership by enabling to experience the joy of the Christmas Season through the wonderful way of gift-giving.
