The Quirino District Engineering Office of the Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office 02 has completed a high-impact road upgrading project amounting to P631, 827, 100 million pesos located along Junction Dumabato-Aurora Boundary in Cordon-Aurora Road.

The newly-improved secondary road network stretching to 38.88 kilometers has undergone major rehabilitation efforts which include concreting of unpaved gravel road sections and installation of drainage system and slope protection structures.

“Aside from the paving of road and installing of drainage and slope protection structures, we also built four permanent bridges along the road stretch. These bridges connecting the municipalities of Cordon, Diffun, Maddela are essential in boosting socio-economic activities both in the provinces of Quirino, Isabela and Aurora,” said District Engineer Marifel T. Andes.

“Other impacts of the fully-concreted Junction Dumabato-Aurora Road include dust pollution reduction and a shorter and smoother traveling experience for the riding public,” she continued.

The road upgrading project is also deemed vital in enhancing the delivery of basic goods and services to the respective areas. Construction activities started in 2011 and reached full completion after five years.
