DPWH Supports the 14th Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Protection Week

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) hosted a meeting to map out activities for the observance of this year’s Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Protection (CPAP) Week on Sept. 16 to 22.

The meeting which was held on Sept. 5, 2017 at the DPWH Head Office, Port Area, Manila, was attended by the National Working Committee on CPAP Week composed of members from various sectors as well as participating DPWH employees.

DPWH Assistant Secretary and National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) Focal Person Eugenio Pipo welcomed the organizers and participants of the meeting and conveyed the Department’s support for the advocacy, as well as its programs for persons with disabilities (PWDs). He also cited DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar’s wife’s active participation in crafting laws for PWDs.

Among the activities lined up during the CPAP Week includes tree-planting, psycho-spiritual retreat, sensitivity training for employers, art museum tour and dialogues among others.

CPAP Week 2017 adapts “Towards an Inclusive Philippine Society for Persons with Cerebral Palsy” as theme, aiming to create a healthy environment for persons with Cerebral Palsy as well as to raise awareness of the disorder.
