DPWH completes Isabela-Quirino connecting bridge

Replacement work for the old Sisim Bridge along the Junction Ipil – Quirino Road (Cordon-Madella road) in San Agustin, Isabela is now completed.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the ₱52.2 million construction of a new 50-lineal meter bridge to connect Isabela with its neighboring Quirino province.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Region 2 Director Melanio C. Briosos said that the replacement of the old Sisim Bridge will play a major function in the interplay of agricultural, industrial and tourism growth and exchanges between the municipalities of San Agustin, Jones, and Echague in Isabela and towns of Madella and Nagtipunan in Quirino.

The deteriorating condition of the old bridge necessitates the immediate replacement of bridge in order to sustain the demands of transport activities in the area.

The bridge was built with a 270-meter concreted approaches on both sides.

The newly built bridge is seen to ensure continuous movement of goods and services and facilitate safer travel that will have impact to socio-economic development.
