Two (2) roads in Leyte remain impassable due to damaged pavements and collapsed slope after Tropical Storm “Urduja” pummelled Eastern Visayas over the weekend.
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Leyte Fourth District Engineer Lino Francisco C. Gonzales identified the following affected roads: Kinanga-Tungonan-Hotspring Road in Barangay Lim-ao, Kananga and Libungao-Matag-ob-Palompon Road in Barangay Candelaria which has collapsed slope/slope protection and cut/drop pavements.
Gonzales said that while these roads were already free from flooding, the affected roads are impassable due to collapsed slope and damaged pavements due to heavy rain brought about by Storm Urduja.
An amount of P120 million was requested for immediate release to rehabilitate the damaged roads.
In the meantime, motorists may opt to take Junction National-Barangay Monterbello-Aguiting-Lim-ao Road and Sto. Rosario-Villaba-Palompon Road as alternative routes to the affected sections.
The Palompon-Isabel-Merida-Ormoc Road in Barangay Liloan, Ormoc City which was closed due road slips has also been cleared and opened on Sunday, December 17, 2017.
All other national road network under DPWH-LFDEO are passable and can be used by the general public.
