
A safer and wider road will soon be utilized by travelers passing Barangay Poblacion, Almeria, Biliran as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) - Biliran District Engineering Office (BDEO) has included the construction of Almeria Diversion Road in its 2018 approved projects.
DPWH Region 8 Director Edgar B. Tabacon said the diversion road received an allocation of P90.6 million from the 2018 General Appropriation Act (GAA) and its preliminary and detailed engineering (PDE) activities has already started.
The Almeria Diversion Road Project involves the construction of a 1.3-kilometer diversion road from Sitio Daro traversing rice fields going to Sitio Torres all the way to Upper Look in the island of Biliran.
According to Director Tabacon, the diversion road project involves the construction of a four (4) lane, 20 meter-wide road, with a four (4) lane bridge component, slope protection, and road safety features.
“The completion of Almeria Diversion Road will decongest traffic along main road, and will provide faster and safer alternative to motorists specifically those who need immediate medical assistance as the road leads to the only Provincial Hospital and Port of the Province,” said Director Tabacon
