DPWH completes 626 projects in Cagayan Valley

A total of 626 projects amounting to P6.03 billion were successfully completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Cagayan Valley Region under the DPWH 2017 Regular Infrastructure Program.

Completed projects in Region 2 include: 278.24 kilometers of national, secondary and tertiary roads, 33 flood control projects, and 574 other infrastructure projects involving the construction of tourism roads, farm-to-market roads, bridges along local roads, school buildings, national buildings, multi-purpose buildings and water systems.

In his report to Secretary Mark A. Villar, Regional Director Melanio C. Briosos said that among major completed projects are the P73.6-million Gattaran Flood Control, P52.2-million Sisim Bridge, P34.9-million road upgrading in Vayang Rolling Hills, and the P631.9-million replacement of Lucban Bridge.

“These projects contributed to the growth of tourism and economic stability in the area while providing comfort and seamless travel to motorists and the populace of Cagayan Valley,” said Briosos.

Additionally, DPWH Region 2 completed a great number of projects funded by other government agencies in Cagayan Valley.

These include the 99 school buildings consisting of 1,023 classrooms for the elementary, secondary, and senior high school students under the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Basic Education Facilities Fund (BEFF) in the total amount of P1.7-B, 61.75 kilometers of farm-to-market roads under the Department of Agriculture amounting to P518.5-million, and 13.21 kilometers of road leading to tourism destination with a value of P175.10 million.
