DPWH to fast track study of Maasin City Coastal Bypass Road Project

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is now set to conduct feasibility study of the proposed 5-kilometer bypass road project that will decongest city road of Maasin, Southern Leyte.

DPWH Southern Leyte District Engineering Office chief Ma. Margarita C. Junia said P5.7 million was allocated for the study of Maasin City Coastal Bypass Road Project which is being fast tracked for implementation.

“The invitation to bid for the contract to conduct the feasibility study of Maasin City Coastal Bypass Road will soon be published as we aim to immediately commence construction activities soon,” said Engr. Junia.

District Engineer Junia added that Phase 1 of the bypass road received an allocation of P50 million in 2018 GAA, as it is amongst the priority projects for Eastern Visayas Region.

The Maasin City Coastal Bypass Road Project will be a 5-kilometer road connecting Barangay Lib-og of Maasin City to Barangay Mambajao, and bypassing the city road by traversing the coastal areas of Barangays Abgao, Tunga-Tunga, and Combado.

When completed, it is expected to support economic development of Southern Leyte, particularly the areas that will be traversed by the project.
