Residents of Barangay La Paz, District 1, Makati City will no longer have to bear with high level of floodwater in their area with the newly-completed road and flood-control upgrading project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

DPWH National Capital Region Director Melvin B. Navarro said a bigger-capacity drainage will help mitigate flooding along the low-lying Kamagong Street and its vicinity at Barangay La Paz especially during the rainy season.

Costing P20 million, the project in Barangay La Paz will also connect the main drainage along Chino Roces Avenue up to A.P. Reyes Avenue, and eventually to a pumping station located at H. Santos Street near the Pasig River.

"Bigger drainage structures are now being incorporated along national roads in Metro Manila. We replace small and old clogged drainage canals with three (3) times larger reinforced concrete box or pipes to prevent large-scale flooding,” said Director Navarro.
