Monday, March 12, 2018

A total of 6-kilometer portion of Laguna Lake Highway eastbound from ML Quezon Avenue to Napindan Bridge in Taguig City is now serviceable to the public.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar has opened today, March 12, 2018 an additional 1.5- kilometer at the eastbound of the highway starting at Hagonoy Flood Gate to ML Quezon Avenue.

Present at the opening of the highway project are Department of Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, Department of Budget and Management Secretary Benjamin Diokno, and Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano.

''The opening of this additional Laguna Lake Highway segment will encourage more motorists to take this faster route from Taytay Rizal to Bicutan, Taguig," said Secretary Villar.

Secretary Villar added that only 940 meters of 2-lane road along with 2-meter wide planting strip, 3-meter wide bike lane and a 1.5-meter wide sidewalk is being implemented to complete the eastbound direction of Laguna Lake Highway.

The construction on its westbound direction is also being fast tracked by the DPWH National Capital Region to allow the public to use a four (4) lane highway that will reduce travel to and from Taytay and Bicutan to just one (1) and a half hour.

When completed, the Laguna Lake Highway will serve as an alternative road to the congested Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and Circumferential Road 5 (C5) when going to and from Rizal and the eastern corridor of Metro Manila.

The highway will also serve as a dike that will protect residents of Taguig City in case of flooding in the area
