DPWH graces opening of 23rd WORLDBEX

The 23rd Philippine World Building and Construction Exposition (WORLDBEX) formally opens today at World Trade Center with Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Senior Undersecretary Rafael C. Yabut representing Secretary Mark A. Villar delivering the keynote address.

In his speech, Undersecretary Yabut highlighted the sustained interest of major key players in the building and construction industry brought about by the government's massive infrastructure thrust.

"This year's exposition marks the unfaltering growth in the building and construction industry, an apparent outcome of the 'Build,Build,Build' program of the government," he added.

He also discussed the key programs and policies of the DPWH that will encourage investors, both here in abroad, to put up their businesses in the Philippines that will generate more jobs for the Filipinos.

Undersecretary Yabut together with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Ireneo V. Vizmonte, WORLDBEX Service International (WSI) Founding Chairman Joseph L. Ang; WSI Managing Director Jill Aithnie Ang; WSI Executive Director Architect Francisco Flameño Jr.; Mr. Rene Ramos; Ms. Tessie Roque; members of the Diplomatic Corp.; and Association presidents also led the ceremonial ribbon cutting.

In its 23rd year, WORLDBEX carries the theme “Shaping Innovations Towards Sustainability” to highlight products and services that are not only state-of-the-art but are also cost efficient and environment friendly.

Given its impressive track record of gathering the movers and shakers in the industry, people are expected to flock in over 1,500 booths, both from local and international exhibitors, mounted at the venue encompassing a total of 37, 100 sq m of show area.
