The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the widening project along Davao-Cotabato Road in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur to provide a more comfortable travel experience to tourists and local travellers.

In his report to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Region XI Director Allan S. Borromeo said that the amount of P103.7-million was allocated to construct additional 2-lane, 320-millimeter thick road along the 2.98-kilometer of Davao-Cotabato Road, from Davao City to Junction Digos Section. The project also involves provision of reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings, precast concrete curb and gutter, concrete barrier with topsoil, as well as metal guardrails.

Also part of the project is the construction of grouted riprap lined canal, concrete inlets, and other major drainage structures to prevent flooding in the area.

The Davao-Cotabato Road is a vital link between Davao and Cotabato City which is considerably shorter than the Daang Maharlika Highway.

The completion of the project benefits a larger number of motorists including traders transporting products between Central and Southern Mindanao.
