The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently implementing a road improvement project that will facilitate easy access to the white sand beaches of Cabongaoan, one of Pangasinan’s booming destinations. DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan said the improvement and concreting of Poblacion-Ilio-Ilio Road in the town of Burgos received an initial allocation of P45 million this year through convergence program with the Department of Tourism. The ongoing Section 1 covers the paving and rehabilitation of a 2-kilometer road with provision of shoulder. Section 1 is target for completion this October 2018. DPWH Region 1 will also include in the proposed 2019 budget another P44 million for the 1.99 kilometers of the road with shoulder provision. “At present, motorists have to endure kilometers of bumpy and dusty or muddy gravel road just to reach the white beach of Cabongaoan and its tide pool. We can provide them with faster and safer access road with the completion of these projects,” said Director Tan. “In the long run, the improved road would result to boost in tourist arrival in Burgos, Pangasinan, hence support livelihood and small businesses of locals in the area,” added Director Tan.
