A 2-storey building that will serve as a regional office building of the National Commission on Indigenous People (NICP) in Region 2 is underway.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 2 Director Melanio C. Briosos said the NCIP building is currently being constructed at the Regional Government Center in Carig, Tuguegarao City.

DPWH Cagayan Third District Engineering Office (DPWH-CTDEO) under District Engineer Danilo U. Tabilas supervises the construction activities to ensure that the approved plan and specifications will be strictly followed.

“We aim to finish the project before the end of the year so that NCIP will be more accessible for better service to the indigenous people in Cagayan Valley Region,” said Director Briosos.

NCIP Executive Director Rogelio Francisco Bantayan Jr. described the construction of the regional office building as the birth symbol of unity of tribes in the region.

The construction of the NCIP-Cagayan Valley Region Building which received an allocation of P10.55-million under 2018 General Appropriations Act (GAA) commenced last February 2018 and is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2018.
