The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is still clearing a total of 18 road sections closed due to road collapse, damaged slope protection, debris and mud flow, and flooding in Regions I and III, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
DPWH Bureau of Maintenance reported that as of 12:00 noon, Wednesday, August 15, 2018, Kennon Road and five (5) other road sections in CAR remain impasable including Abra-Ilocos Norte Road, K0451+150-K0451+250 in Nagaparan, Danglas, Abra; Baguio City Limit-Sto. Tomas Road K0263+500-K0260+530 in Sitio Bandilaan, Cabuyao, Tuba, Benguet; Acop-Kapangan-Kibungan-Bakun Road, K0345+600 - K0345+670, Bagtangan and K0349+300-K0349+370 Gakian, in Gambang, Bakun, Benguet; Banaue-Hungduan-Benguet Boundary Road, K0388+000-K0388+040 in Wangwang, Tinoc, Ifugao; Tabuk – Banaue Road, K0543+200- K0543+395 Dumanay Section in Tanudan, Kalinga.
The Sto. Tomas-Minalin Road (Minalin-Macabebe Section), K0070+900 -K0073+600 in Telacsan, Macabebe; Baliwag - Candaba - Sta. Ana Road, Bomba Bridge (Detour Road), K0068+348 in San Agustin, Candaba; Apalit - Macabebe - Masantol Road, section K0062+900 - K0063+750 in Sta. Lucia, Matua, Masantol and section K0058+230 - K0058+750 in Caduang Tete, Macabebe; and the Candaba - San Miguel Road K0073+400 - K0073+600 in Paralaya, Candaba, Pampanga is also being cleared, along with the Cervantes-Aluling-Bontoc Road K0285+300 in Barangay Aluling, Ilocos Sur which was closed to traffic due to rockslide and landslide.
DPWH-BOM also reported a total of seven (7) roads that are not passable to light and heavy vehicles due to flooding. This include: Agoo-Baguio City Road, K0252+950, Palina, Pugo, La Union; Alaminos-Bolinao Road, Garrita Bridg, K0329+300;Urdaneta-Dagupan Road (via Zambales), YMCA Section; Judge Jose De Venecia Sr. Ave Road (Sphere Section); Calasiao Old Road, K0204+000 - K0204+150; San Carlos-Calasiao Road, K0210+320 - K0210+400, Malabago Section, K0212+800 - K0212+840, Mancup Section, and K0213+050-K0213+295, Poblacion Section in Pangasinan; and the Bigaa Plaridel via Bulacan & Malolos Road, K0031+ (-)100 to K0031+050 in Balagtas, Bulacan.
Field personnel of concerned Regional and District Engineering Offices are continuously assisting commuters while clearing operations and assessment of damage cost are being conducted along affected road sections.
