DPWH-UP signs MOA on construction, renovation of 20 UP school facilities

A total of P2.76-Billion worth of projects will be carried out by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in various campuses and facility of the state-run University of the Philippines (UP).

The implementation of 20 UP projects that cover construction and renovation of school building facilities, dormitories, public restrooms, gymnasium, a water impounding lagoons, road network, and an environmental research and outreach center will be covered under a memorandum of agreement between DPWH and UP.

Based on the agreement, DPWH is tasked to procure, supervise and implement the construction and renovation of the 12 projects in Diliman Campus; three (3) projects in Los Baños Campus; one (1) each in Manila, Cebu, Visayas, and Mindanao; and one (1) off-campus facility in Puerto Galera.

UP-Diliman projects include the P414 million rehabilitation and modernization of Gonzalez Hall-University Library, P125-million University Health Service, P72.45-million Molave Residence Hall, P95.69-million Yakal Residence Hall, P82.68-million Kamia Residence Hall and the construction of P35-million UP Diliman Multipurpose Hall, P200-million Faculty and Staff Housing, P600-million Faculty Center, P50 million UP Gymnasium, P50-million water impounding lagoons, and P250 Resilience Institute for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, and P50-million public restrooms.

In UP-Los Baños, DPWH will implement the construction of Agronomy, Soils, and Horticulture Building Crop Protection Wing, Dormitory for Graduate Students, and a World-Class Multimedia Production Building with an allocation of P100 million each.

DPWH will also undertake the construction of UP-Manila Neuro Science Institute Building amounting to P50 million; renovation of UP-Cebu Undergraduate Studies Building costing P12.7 million; construction of 3.7-kilometer road network leading to the New Academic Core Zone of UP-Visayas costing P100 million; and the construction of Puerto Galera Biodiversity and Environmental Research and Outreach Center (Phase 1) costing P25.9 million.
