The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will reactivate a total of 11 Motorist Assistance Centers (MACs) in Bicol Region in anticipation of the influx of devotees for the feast of Our Lady of Peñafrancia in Naga City, Camarines Sur.
DPWH Region V Director Virgilio C. Eduarte said DPWH District Engineering Offices (DEOs) in mainland provinces: Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Sorsogon will deploy MACs along conspicuous spaces of national road to render 24/7 assistance to the Peñafrancia pilgrims from September 13 to 17, 2018.
Each MAC is manned by uniformed DPWH engineers, mechanics, and equipment operators ready to assist motorists on normal and emergency situations.
Motorist assistance teams will also work with the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Philippine National Police (PNP), and Local Government Units (LGUs) to closely monitor Daang Maharlika.
DPWH Region V crews were earlier deployed to undertake various maintenance activities and install appropriate informative, directional, and warning signs along roads leading to the pilgrim site.
