The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has started construction activities for the widening of Looc Bridge in Almeria, Biliran along Biliran Circumferential Road.

The widening of Looc Bridge, with a total cost of P21.9 million, involves the construction of two additional lanes with a width of 3.66 meters each on both sides of the 24-meter length existing bridge.

According to DPWH Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) District Engineer David P. Adongay Jr., the contractor has finished mobilizing the equipment and materials for the project and is now clearing the construction site.

The widening of Looc Bridge from two (2) lanes to four (4) lanes will complement its already widened approach of road opening to Kawayan, Biliran and the ongoing widening of national roads in the province.

“DPWH is expecting to provide safer roads and better travel experience for at least 5,000 motorists traversing the Biliran Circumferential Road with the completion of the project in January 2019,” he added.

More projects are expected to be implemented in the province with its P1.8B infrastructure funds for 2018 aimed at achieving the Duterte administration’s “Build, Build, Build” Program.
