DPWH completes 2 new school buildings in Cagayan

More students in Peñablanca and Tuguegarao City, Cagayan can now have a better learning environment with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) turning-over two (2) newly completed educational infrastructure facilities.

The DPWH Cagayan Third District Engineering Office completed the single-storey workshop building worth P3 million at Don Severino Pagalilauan National High School in Callao, Peñablanca which now functions as a laboratory facility of Senior High School (SHS) students.

Another one-storey school building with a total cost of P970,406 at Pardo Elementary School, Cataggaman Pardo, Tuguegarao City was also built to serve as a classroom for Grade VI students.

According to DPWH Cagayan Third District Engineer Danilo Tabilas, aside from the recently completed school buildings, a two-storey building with eight classrooms is also being constructed at Gosi National High School in Barangay Gosi, Tuguegarao City.

The on-going project costing P15.6 million will accommodate two (2) Science laboratories and three (3) Information Communication Technology (ICT) rooms for SHS students.

Engineer Tabilas said they have closely monitored the contractor to ensure strict implementation of the project specifications of school buildings and ensure that students can have good quality facilities that are conducive for learning.

The construction of school building projects is a joint undertaking of the DPWH and Department of Education (DepEd), with the former as implementing agency, and funded through the Basic Educational Facilities Fund.
