DPWH at full throttle for Typhoon “Rosita”

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is fast-tracking its clearing operations along national highways and major thoroughfares amid the onslaught of Typhoon “Rosita”.
DPWH Maintenance personnel and equipment resources are deployed to clear debris and provide disaster-response assistance at affected areas in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Regions 1, 2, 3 and other parts of Luzon experiencing torrential monsoon rains.

Meanwhile, the Kennon Road leading to Benguet Province remains closed to vehicular traffic for the overall safety of the motoring public going to Baguio City and other highland areas in the province.

Director Tiburcio Canlas of DPWH - CAR advised motorists to use Marcos Highway or Rosario-Pugo-Baguio Road, Naguilian Road or Bauang-Baguio Road, and Asin-Nangalisan-San Pascual Road via the Rosario-Pugo Road while clearing works are ongoing.

The Regional Office has intensified efforts to fix the damaged bridge at Camp 1, scoured detour bridge approach at Camp 5, road slip at Camp 6, several sections prone to falling rocks, and on-going bridge works at Camp 7 that may expose travelling public to extreme danger when passing through the scenic zigzag road, especially with the experience of torrential monsoon rains as Typhoon “Rosita” makes a close pass in the northern Philippines.
