A new way to heighten the information dissemination in Biliran in Region 8 is anticipated as various news agencies represented by their information officers collaborated to form the Biliran Communicators Network (BilComNet).
The network is composed of different government agencies, Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs), and non-government organizations (NGOs) committed to uphold BilComNet’s principles of delivering timely, accurate, and relevant news and information.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Biliran District Engineering Office, as a member agency, hosted the network’s second meeting wherein the BilComNet ratified its constitution and by-laws as well as its functions and action plan for 2019.
During the meeting, Mr. Rodrigo Victoria from the Philippine Information Agency – Biliran Provincial Information Office encouraged utilizing text blast to broaden the target range of the public that will receive the information while Hon. Bridigo Caneja III, Board Member of Biliran 1st District, stressed the importance of unbiased news coverage to promote transparency.
Aside from the information caravan that will serve as a platform to advertise the agencies’ services, the network also established a feedback mechanism that lets the public send comments and opinion on the news disseminated to ensure effective and on time news delivery.
