DPWH completes P46.5 million revetment structure along Tullahan River

A newly-constructed revetment wall of 9 meters tall now serves as a protective barrier to flooding of residents living close to Tullahan River in SSS Village, Barangay North Fairview, Quezon City.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) National Capital Region Director Melvin B. Navarro said a total of P46.5 million was spent for the 461-lineal meter structure built under Rehabilitation and Improvement of Tullahan River Phase II.

Prior to the construction of the wall, only an old, dilapidated, 3 meters in height grouted riprap serves as a defense against force of river especially during heavy rains in the area.

“With the taller and sturdier concrete revetment along Tullahan River, residents near the area are assured that the inundation of flooding and soil erosion along the river banks will be avoided in case of heavy rains preventing damages of properties and loss of lives,” said Director Navarro.

The construction of river wall was funded under 2018 General Appropriations Act (GAA) and was implemented from February to November 2018 by DPWH Quezon City First District Engineering Office headed by District Engineer Marlyn G. Inguillo.
