DPWH attends Ormoc City Peace and Order Council Meeting

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Leyte 4th District Engineering Office, represented by District Engineer Lino Francisco C. Gonzalez, attended the City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) Meeting last January 9, 2018.

Among the agencies and organizations present at the meeting include the Local Planning Office of the POC Technical Working Group, Liga ng mga Barangay President, City Chief of Police, City Social Welfare and Development Officer, Armed Forces, Philippine Coastguard, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Ormoc City Director and other private sectors

The agendas discussed were the presentation of CPOC Performance Audit Results, presentation and approval for Tanod Trainings, approval of the Confidential Fund CY 2019 and the presentation of Peace and Order and Public Safety Plan Policy Compliance Monitoring System (POPSPPCMS), which refers to the three-year plan consisting of programs and activities that promote peace and order and public safety in a particular locality.

Pursuant to Section 116 of Republic Act No. 7160, or the “Local Government Code of 1991”, and Executive Order (EO) No. 773, s. 2009, which calls for the further reorganization of the POC, every Province, City, and Municipality is mandated to create a Peace and Order Council (POC).

With the commitment for peaceful condition of the community, DPWH Leyte 4th DEO and the local government have coordinated and pursues the regulations on road maintenance and public road safety to maintain standard living of people and promote economic growth to the city.
