The construction of twenty (20) new classrooms by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) at Hiniragan National High School in the municipality of Hinigaran will facilitate better learning experience for students in Negros Occidental.

DPWH and the Department of Education (DepEd) officials together with local government officials of the Province of Negros Occidental recently led the groundbreaking ceremony of the 4-storey school building implemented under the convergence program between DPWH and DepEd.

According to Negros Occidental 2nd District Engineer Rodolfo Melosantos, the P45.15-million school building funded under the Basic Education Facilities Fund can accommodate about 800 junior and senior high school students.

The new academic building will house laboratory rooms, lecture rooms, and administrative offices to cater students enrolled in the different tracks offered at Hiniragan National High School.

“Given fair weather conditions, we expect the project to be completed by August so that students can have a more conducive venue for learning,” Engineer Melosantos added.
