VILLAR: Slaughter House-Bypass Road in Davao now open

Friday, February 8, 2019

Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar and Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio inaugurated the Slaughter House-Bypass Road project in Davao City earlier this day.

The PhP 469-Million project covered the improvement and widening of the 2.690-Km old slaughter house road from JCT Davao City Diversion Road, passing along Ma-a Riverside Road until F. Torres Bridge.

Secretary Mark Villar explained that the new route significantly shortens travel time since it cuts through the heart of Ma-a and exits to Carlos P. Garcia Highway, avoiding the congestion in the main Ma-a road.

"Travel time between Davao City Diversion Road and Davao City downtown will be reduced by half, from the usual 40 to 20 minutes," Villar said.

The project rehabilitated the existing damaged paved road and widened it from two lanes to four, including that of the bridge.

Concrete sidewalks with curb and gutter were added for pedestrians. The road is also complete with lateral drainage pipes and manholes, and abided by the provision of road signs for motorist safety.

The bypass road serves as an easy-access, convenient route that will benefit 1,500 motorists per day.

"Ito po ay patunay na tuloy-tuloy ang Build, Build, Build program sa buong Pilipinas, hindi lang sa Luzon kundi pati sa Visayas at Mindanao," Villar noted.
