DPWH completes 261 classrooms to support K-12

The start of the year looks bright for the thousands of students, parents, school facilitators in Region 2.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Director Melanio C. Briosos reported the completion of 104 school buildings that will accommodate the needs of the K to 12 program of the Department of Education within the region.

“In response to the region’s growing student population, DPWH Region 02, in cooperation with Department of Education, completed the construction of 261 classrooms regionwide in the amount of P1.240 Billion,” Briosos stated.

The funding was sourced out of Basic Educational Facilities Fund (BEFF) from the 2018 national budget for educational facilities intended for Academic, Elementary, Junior and Senior High Schools all over the region.

Director Briosos added that the completion of the projects is in fulfilment of the commitment of the national leadership to improve the educational facilities for the children in the impoverished barangays and at the same time bolstering the K to 12 school program of the government in the region.
