The Department of Public Works and Highways through the Cagayan Third District Engineering Office (DPWH-CTDEO) has completed the contsruction of flood control system along Pinacanuan River in Bagumbayan, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
According to District Engineer Danilo U. Tabilas, the riverbank in the said section needed protection so they allocated funding for the construction of a river control system which spans a length of 271.60 lineal meters.
“This structure will prevent influx of water to agricultural and residential areas during onset of heavy rains,” DE Tabilas said.
He also added that the project will prevent damage to properties and protect the lives of about 153,502 residents of Tuguegarao City.
The project amounted to P47 million pesos and was funded under the 2018 Regular Infrastructure Fund.
