A total of 34 Rain Water Collector Systems (RWCS) amounting to P3.4 million pesos were installed in the different schools in the Province of Quirino.
The Department of Public Works and Highways-Quirino District Engineering Office (DPWH-QDEO) implemented the said project that benefitted 12 elementary schools and three secondary shools within the province.
District Engineer Marifel T. Andes said that the RWCS is an innovative way to maximize use of rainwater for sanitation purposes in the recipient schools.
The RWCS collects rainwater through pipes connected from the roofing of the school buildings.
Accumulated rainwater is distributed to toilets, washrooms and other facilities that need water through the pipes or faucets attached to the water-collecting structure.
