The probationers, parolees and conditional pardoned will now have a new temporary home with the completion of two (2) buildings in Barangay Lanipe, Nueva Valencia, province of Guimaras.
Based on a report submitted by District Engineer Rhodora B. Nuñal to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, the completed project in the amount of P51.67-million involves the construction of two (2) structures: a halfway house and livelihood training center with a perimeter fence, parking lot, and other amenities.
The buildings, situated in a 2-hectare land generously donated by the land owners in Barangay Lanipe will not just serve as a temporary home for our probationers but will also be a venue for various trainings, seminars, and recreational activities.
“The main goal of this project is to provide a temporary home for our probationers and parolees which has a good and peaceful environment suited for their development as individuals,” said Secretary Villar.
“These structures are equipped with facilities that will cater the reformative needs of our stakeholders so they can go through the process of moral self-reformation in serenity,” Secretary Villar further added.
The project is a joint undertaking of the DPWH and Department of Justice – Parole and Probation Administration (DOJ-PPA).
It has been a long dream of the DOJ-PPA with regards to the welfare of probationers and parolees who wish to be given a chance in starting life anew.
