DPWH to complete Phase 1 of Boracay road rehab this month; Phase 2 to open before year-end

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar announced that the Phase 1 of Boracay Circumferential Road Rehabilitation Project is now substantially-completed.

Secretary Villar made the statement following an inspection at the 4.122-kilometer Boracay Circumferential Road.

Phase 1 which covers the concreting of two-lane Portland Concrete Cement Pavement (PCCP) road, including sidewalks with paving blocks, ramps and planting strips.

The completion of Phase 1 means that the 2.66-kilometer section from Cagban Port to Hue Hotel and the 1.462-kilometer segment from Hue Hotel to Elizalde will be fully opened to the motorists.

Secretary Villar said DPWH Region 6 will also start the civil works for Boracay Circumferential Road Rehabilitation Project Phase 2 which will start from Elizalde property passing through Ambassador Hotel to City Mall, with the length of 1.900 kilometers.

The second phase is set for completion and opening before year-end, with total amount of P300-Million also includes the improvement of road from Tambisaan Port to Rotonda with a length of 1.462 kilometers.

          Other than improvement of Boracay Circumferential Road, DPWH will be working on the road along Lake Town, near D’ Mall.

Villar added that to fast-track projects, DPWH is in coordination with representatives of utilities providers Boracay Water and Boracay Tubi, who are also working on their own projects in the area.
