The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the P234 million government building project for the Province of Basilan in Western Mindanao.
According to Secretary Mark Villar, the new government center is a 24-meter by 48-meter building constructed inside a developed 10-hectare lot in Barangay Sta. Clara, Lamitan City.
“Through the efforts of our DPWH-9 headed by Regional Director Cayamombao D. Dia, a new Basilan Government Center opens to improve provision of service to the province’s constituents,” said Secretary Villar.
“The government complex can serve as a one-stop-shop center of the public in the province. It can also accommodate provincial offices of different agencies of the newly created Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM),” added Secretary Villar.
The New Basilan Government Center Building Project was implemented by DPWH Region 9 and Basilan District Engineering Office starting June 2018. The project is set for inauguration before the end of March 2019.
