In celebration of heart month, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Samar First District Engineering Office joins in the annual activity of St. Camillus Hospital which is now on its eighth consecutive year. This year’s theme is “Be the future, Follow your heart”.
There are 600 participants from different organizations, agencies, and academic institutions in Calbayog City which participated in the said activity last February 16, 2019. The walk is for the benefit of various outreach and charitable programs sponsored by St. Camillus Hospital as well as to promote physical fitness for a healthy heart.
The walkathon assembled in front of Calbayog City Hall at four in the morning which commenced by having a short exercise. From there, eager participants walked six and half kilometers route along Daang Maharlika towards the hospital.
The end point of the event was at St. Camillus hospital wherein a Zumba Dance, a raffle draw and parlor games were prepared. After which, a holy mass was celebrated at St. Camillus chapel.
This is a true manifestation that we are all united and aiming for one cause which is to have one healthy and peaceful community as we become future leaders of the next generation.
