DPWH breaks ground for PNP 5-storey Multi-Purpose Building

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar and Philippine National Police (PNP) Police General Oscar D. Albayalde led Monday, April 1, 2019 the ceremonial groundbreaking for the construction of a five (5) storey PNP Multi-Purpose Building near the Training Service Compound at Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Secretary Villar was accorded with arrival honors as the Guest of Honor and Speaker during the ground breaking ceremony of the ₱267.9 million multi-purpose building project which when completed in March 2020 will increase effectiveness and productivity of the police in the performance of their duties and functions as law enforcers.

Secretary Villar extended his deep gratitude to the PNP leadership as he expressed the willingness of DPWH to assist and continuously support PNP in their infrastructure requirement as part of the continuing PNP modernization program.

“You can expect that once functional, the multi-storey building will serve as a place of productivity and unity so our police force can work, plan and assemble more comfortably and safely” said Secretary Villar.
Originally conceptualized as a multi-level parking building, the project was redesigned into a multi-purpose building covering a total floor area of 11,750 square meters and will house 12 function halls, 176 parking slots, 36 comfort rooms, 2 passenger elevators, 3 stairways, a pavilion, a roof deck and spaces for concessionaires to cater to the demand for additional space for police functions and contribute to the organization’s ability to perform credible service.

DPWH integrated in the building’s design additional eight (8) comfort rooms and four (4) ground floor ramps to cater to persons with disabilities (PWD) who does business with DPWH.

The construction of this convergence project with the PNP and funded under DPWH’s 2018 General Appropriations Act will be implemented by DPWH Unified Project Management Office - Buildings and Special Projects Management Cluster (UPMO-BSPMC) under overall supervision of Undersecretary for UPMO Operations and Technical Services Emil K. Sadain and Project Director Johnson V. Domingo.
