
A better healthcare facility was delivered by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the needs of residents of Barangay M. Veloso in the Municipality of Calubian, Leyte.
In his report to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Region 8 Director Nerie D. Bueno said that the Calubian Rural Health Unit is providing immediate and better health services to the residents of the far flung barangay and its neighboring villages following the rehabilitation of its consultation rooms, maternity rooms, and minor surgery and treatment room.
The P9.37-million rehabilitation project funded under the Facilities Enhancement Program of the Department of Health (DOH) and implemented by the DPWH Leyte Third District Engineering Office involved the improvement of sewer lines, plumbing works, painting, and electrical works as well as installation of metal railings and a new water tank.
“Aside from the structural works, the rehabilitated building is also constructed with multi-hazard resilient features that makes the building PWD-friendly,” said Director Bueno.
Through the Facilities Enhancement Program of DOH and DPWH, the government is targeting to provide improved local healthcare delivery system that are can easily respond to the needs of the people especially in rural areas.
