Public Works Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that the two (2) additional lanes of Taguibo Bridge along Daang Maharlika in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte will soon be opened to the motoring public.
The announcement followed after DPWH Regional Office 13 Director Pol M. Delos Santos reported that the construction of a new bridge parallel to the existing Taguibo Bridge along the Surigao-Agusan Section of Daang Maharlika is now 98 percent completed.
Director Delos Santos committed that they are fast-tracking the full completion of Taguibo parallel bridge for it to align with the four-lane roadway and allow more motorists to travel to and from Butuan City and its neighboring provinces.
Started in 2015, the P372-million bridge widening project funded under the General Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2015-2017 involves construction and asphalt overlay of a 600-meter concrete bridge with two lanes including payment of affected properties for the right-of-way.
“The construction of Taguibo Bridge is part of the DPWH’s initiative of connecting rural and urban communities by building and improving national bridges,” added Secretary Villar.
