The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) formally commences Friday, April 26, 2019 the construction of new Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) Central Office Building in a 5,175 square meters property at the National Government Center located at Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City.
Construction of PAO Central Office Building starts with a groundbreaking ceremony led by Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra, Chief Public Attorney Persida Rueda-Acosta, and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Assistant Secretary Antonio V. Molano Jr.
Also present at the event were Atty. Ana Lisa M. Soriano, PAO Deputy Chief Public Attorney for Luzon; Atty. Silvestre A. Mosing, PAO Deputy Chief Public Attorney for Visayas and Mindanao; Ambassador Barry Gusi; Project Director Johnson V. Domingo and Project Manager Jose A. Aguinaldo of DPWH Unified Project Management Office-Buildings and Special Projects Management Cluster; Architect Geronima B. Angeles, Quezon City Division Project Manager of National Housing Authority (NHA); M.E. Sicat Construction President Michael E. Sicat and Project Manager Gilbert Dayrit.
Early in May 2017, PAO entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with DPWH and NHA for the preparation of the required architectural designs and building engineering plans and was followed by the allocation of P900 Million under the 2018 DPWH Budget.
A national government agency attached to DOJ, PAO deserves a building of its own to be a place of productivity in providing free legal assistance to the ever growing influx of clients.
The PAO Central Office is presently housed at 4th and 5th floors of DOJ Agencies Building, NIA Road corner East Avenue, Quezon City.
