The Department of Public Works and Highways Luzon Cluster (Regions I, II, III, IV-A, V and CAR) under Undersecretary Rafael C. Yabut held a meeting on the list of priority projects for the infrastructure development of Luzon area, April 1, 2019.
Presided by Assistant Secretary Eugenio R. Pipo, Jr., all the directors from the mentioned five (5) Regional Offices presented their listings according to priorities, all having great impact to the lives of the people and planned on the bases of travel time reduction, of casualty decline, and of unhampered mobility. Regional Director Samson L. Hebra of Regional Office No. IV-A mentioned having more than ten (10) high-impact projects but priority was given to those projects that would reduce traffic congestion especially in the highly populated areas of CALABARZON region.
RD Hebra included in his presentation the completion of the Batangas City-San Pascual-Bauan Road, Lipa City-Padre Garcia Diversion Road, Tayabas Bypass Road, STAR Tollway-Pinamucan Diversion Road, and Gumaca Bypass Road. These projects were identified and programmed as multi-year based on the scope of works and km length of the road project.
With the delay in the approval of the 2019 national budget, the agency took advantage of this waiting time to call on all head of implementing offices to prepare all their listings of priority projects, which are in line with the “Build, Build, Build” program of the present administration. The listings will then be assessed by the head agency and the final list of priority projects will be identified and properly monitored, in view of the Department’s objective to deliver projects right on time.
