The Department of Public Works and Highways-X begins the Php 76 Million rehabilitation project of the Plaza Divisoria Amphitheater on March 31, 2019 – a week after the Executive Order from the Office of the City Mayor was posted on the project site.

The project includes the construction of the amphitheater, multi-level parking building, monument, office, footbridge and ramp structure, site development and utility works.

Issues and concerns raised by affected stakeholders were catered during the coordination meeting on February 15 and March 8, 2019 participated by the LGU, PNP and other tenants.

To date, project area was cleared and the Barangay Hall and PNP Office are temporarily relocated within the City Hall. Masseurs were also relocated within the Divisoria area.

The Plaza Divisoria Amphitheater, also called “Amphi,” was known to be the famous landmark and the home of entertainment in Cagayan de Oro City in the ‘90s.

It also became the center of historic cultural, civic and political events where previous Presidents stood to communicate with the Kagay-anons. A huge crowd used to enjoy events catered by the amphitheater that slowly faded after other entertainment bistros entered the market.

Pegged at Php 76,030,593.97, the first phase of the project is targeted for completion by the end of the year if no other issues will be encountered during implementation.
