DPWH begins construction of new PRC Central Office Building in Pasay City

Monday, May 20, 2019

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar and Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Chairman Atty. Teofilo Pilando Jr. led on Monday, May 20, 2019 the groundbreaking of the new PRC Central Building located at Phase 1, Super Block A, Central Business Park Island-A, Bay City, Pasay City.

“This new project costing P872.9 million will be the Center for Continuing Professional Development and Professional Licensure Examinations, replacing the existing PRC Main Office Building in Sampaloc, Manila which was built since the second world war,” said Secretary Villar.

Secretary Villar said that the PRC Main Office in Pasay City is envisioned to have three (3) modern structures: an 11-storey building to house the Commission and Professional Regulatory Boards offices; an 8-storey building to house examination facilities and parking spaces; and a 3-storey building to house the hearing rooms, food court and roof garden.

“The new PRC Building can hopefully accommodate the continuously growing number of professionals, as well as the increasing number of regulated professions. This facility would also provide a venue for local and international events to further prepare Filipino professionals for global practice,” added Secretary Villar.

According to PRC Chairman Pilando, the old building, surrounded by mostly old dilapidated buildings and establishments, has already reached its obsolescence and has acquired a negative image amongst the professionals and other stakeholders.

“The construction of this new PRC Building in Pasay City begins the fulfillment of our dream to finally have a national building of its own that can truly cater the needs of the Commission and the professionals,” added Chairman Pilando.

Aimed for completion in less than two (2) years or 390 days, the new PRC Building will be implemented by DPWH Unified Project Management Office – Buildings and Special Projects Management Cluster headed by Project Director Atty. Johnson Domingo and Project Manager Jose A. Aguinaldo; and under the direction of DPWH Undersecretary for UPMO Operations and Technical Services Emil Sadain.
