
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has commenced the three (3) road projects under the “Improving Growth Corridors in Mindanao Road Sector Project” aimed to enhance economic development and peace and order situation in the island provinces of Mindanao.
Citing a report from DPWH Undersecretary for Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) Operations and Technical Services Emil Sadain, DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said that ongoing projects cover a total of 67.9 kilometers of road with 11 bridges, drainage and slope protection components in Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga del Norte.
One (1) of the projects is the 23.73-kilometer PR-06, Alicia-Malangas Road costing P1.32 Billion. Scope of project includes the construction of concrete road with required width of 6.70 meter-carriageway, eight (8) bridges, slope protection along flood prone areas and mountainous section, culverts, road signages, and pavement markings component.
Another project in Zamboanga Sibugay is the 29.10-kilometer PR-09, Lutiman-Guicam-Olutanga Road costing P989.16 million that covers the construction of concrete road with slope protection, improvement of drainage, installation of road signages, and application of pavement markings.
In Zamboanga del Norte, DPWH has commenced the 15.07-kilometer PR-07, Tampilisan-Sandayong Road costing P623.26 million. This project also covers road concreting, with three (3) bridge components, slope protection, drainage, and road signage and markings.
“If weather permits, we will be able to complete and open these vital road networks in Mindanao by 2021,” said Secretary Villar.
The construction of Alicia-Malangas Road, Lutiman-Guicam-Olutanga Road, and Tampilisan-Sandayong Road are funded by an Asian Development Bank.
