Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar together with Philippine Marine Corps Brigadier General Ariel R. Caculitan led on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 the ceremonial groundbreaking of a multi-purpose building project at the Marine Base - Camp Gregorio Lim, in Ternate, province of Cavite.
Secretary Villar, who was the Guest Speaker at the Graduation Exercise of Marine Basic Course Classes said that with funding cost of P10-million from the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2019, the multi-purpose project aims to cater to the recreational needs of both dedicated full-fledged marines and cadets, thus building harmonious rapport and camaraderie between Marine Corps.
Implemented by DPWH-Cavite Second District Engineering Office, the project consists of 40-meter by 80-meter wide covered court with provision for bleachers, a stage, and restrooms that will be utilized for sports and other events.
Also included in the project is the installation of lighting fixtures, a shot clock, and a foldable modified backboard to be used in maximizing the space of the stage.
“This project is part of the government’s utmost support to the Hukbong Kawal Pandagat ng Pilipinas, who fight alongside our infantry forces in securing peace and order,” said Secretary Villar.
Upon its completion, the project is seen to provide warrior candidate soldiers not just a venue for recreation but also serve as a safe, disaster-resilient facility.
