The Department of Public Works and Highways Region VIII is committed to quality and excellence in delivering services of international standards as it is now ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 9001:2008 Certified.
ISO 9001:2008 Certification is an accreditation conducted by external certification bodies to ensure that an organization performs their inter-related processes with international standards.
DPWH RO 8 together with other Regional Offices, DEOs, and UPMOs, accepted the QMS (Quality Management Service) ISO 9008:2001 Certificate. The event was led by Secretary of Department of Public Works and Highways Rogelio L. Singson and AJA (Anglo Japanese American) Registrars Vice President Paul Bagatsing and attended by the top management and employees of DPWH Central Office.
“As I leave the office in a few days, I am sure that the ISO certification program is considered a success because the Central Office, Regional Offices, the Unified Project Management Offices, and 17 District Engineering Offices are now certified. Consequently the remaining 165 District Engineering Offices, will have to work for their certifications. But with a massive 54 accredited Offices, I think we will be able to create the momentum for the whole Department to pursue every single District to be certified as well,” said Secretary Rogelio L. Singson during one of his last engagements as the agency’s head – the Awarding Ceremony on June 27, 2016 held at the DPWH Head Office in Manila.
As DPWH RO 8 is now QMS Certified to ISO 9001:2008, the department will enhance its infrastructure development process to better serve the interest of its stakeholders.
